Banksia splendida or (Formerly) Dryandra speciosa
A small scale shrub with one of the most unusual flowers of any of the Dryandra I grow. The buds start out as grey fuzz that hangs from the ends of the short branches. these eventually open to pendulous flower heads. Flower color ranges from matrons to yellows and browns.
Full sun, excellent drainage, and good airflow are the best options for a happy plant. It does well in containers which is one of the best ways to displays its flowers. Expect a mature size of around 2-'3 high and wide. Hardy to at least 26f.
