Lawn to Lush

Martinez - CA

The front yard of this 100 year old cottage never really evolved past the 1960's. A weed infested lawn was flanked by carpet roses and camellias.

Even though the footprint was small, the garden now feels like two separate rooms thanks to a 40' poured concrete wall that meanders through the space. The seating area is large enough to share a meal with friends or relax and enjoy the early evening breeze in the company of hummingbirds.

A rich tapestry of plants from around the world ensures that there is always something in bloom. But most importantly, less maintenance time and much less water is spent on this garden now that the lawn is history.
